Packaging Saga 1: Toiletries

Back in my day (when I had to walk 10 miles, in the snow, and uphill BOTH ways to school), there was no Airbnb. If hotels were too expensive, your alternative was hostels. When I travelled, hostels were likely stops and shampoo, conditioner, body wash or cream weren’t left out for you. So, I developed a habit…

I’m not a hoarder I swear! But after much travel, one thing I found really convenient were hotel toiletries! I used to travel a tonne for work and amassed a large collection of mini bottles. I know, it’s not environmentally friendly and I’ve stopped collecting these bottles as I’ve upgraded from hostels to Airbnbs, but I have them now and should use them.

The same goes for makeup and creams. This summer was great for pop-ups and I was super lucky to attend events for the Shoppers Drug Mart Beauty Boutique and the Neostrata Pop Up Lab. I love samples and trying new things, but I always end up just shoving them in a drawer and forgetting about them, taking them with me forces me to try new products. The best part, as I go along my travels, my bag is likely to get lighter and have more room.

I think this is a fun little trick, and justifies my love for free samples 😀
