Made it to Lisboa

After a 7 hour, overnight flight I made it into Lisbon. I’m never good with sleeping on planes, so I was exhausted when I arrived, but also buzzing with excitement. It’s been 24 hours now and I’m still in a bit of awe that I’m actually here. From the airport I met some other Remotes and then am whisked away into a shuttle van to my new home, where I, somewhat in a dazed fashion meet some of my 13 housemates… yes 13!

My cosy little room with a desk and closet.

I was a little worried what our unit would look like, but it’s quite cute! We have the entire floor of a guest house and it’s separated into two wings. 8 rooms in one wing, and 7 in the other. One of my roommates is a “Citizen” a person who has done a Remote Year program before, and is in Portugal for a second time! It’s been great because she knows her way around and took us to a beautiful patio with an amazing sunset.

Noobai is a rooftop bar restaurant located on a hilltop with panoramic views of the Tagus river, the harbor, the “25 de Abril” bridge. I enjoyed the views with a delicious portuguese cider with a cinnamon stick in it and a stuffed bread filled with melted cheese with onions + toasties. All in all, it was a great start to the day, especially after no sleep!
