Lockdown Day 4

Living For Now

Yesterday we celebrated a birthday while in lockdown. Those are not words I would’ve ever imaged having to type. This is not how our birthday girl thought she’d be celebrating and definitely not how we typically celebrate birthdays, but what’s typical now?

Over the last couple days, we learned bollywood dance and jumped on a zoom call and performed a sort of ‘flashmob’ for the birthday girl. It’s strange to think that this may be the new normal for a little while, celebrations via online conferencing. But having this one moment of fun and elation was amazing. No worrying about the virus, grounded flights, or safety. We got to dance and laugh and just enjoy. One thing this lockdown has imparted is the need to live for now. Organizing these little moments (the dance was under 2 mins) to find joy and support and celebrate each other.

I always wanted to be in a flash mob, not quite how I imagined it would be, but amazing nonetheless.

Despite being oceans apart (quite literally for some us) the feeling of community isn’t gone. It was amazing to be a part of this dance.

I’m actually a little nervous about today, without the flowers or dance as a project, I’m a little worried I won’t have something else to occupy my time.
