Level 4 Freedom

It’s been a week since we’ve been in the level 4 lockdown meaning we now have the ability to exercise between the hours of 6-9 am. It’s kind of crazy to think that it took a quarantine to make me a morning person, but it has. Knowing that I only have this small window to get out and be able to walk freely I’ve made sure to be up in time each day for at least an hours walk.

It was such a strange phenomenon the first day we could go for a walk. After 35 days in isolation, Jen and I excitedly made our way onto the fog engulfed streets. Once out, it almost felt like a sensory overload. There were people and dogs and people on bikes and noise, and people! It was just so strange to see so many people! It was exciting and overwhelming, but also very strange because there was no way to connect with anyone. Most of us were in masks, so good mornings were muffled and smiles were hidden, but I was so glad to be out.

I’d forgotten what it was like to run into people you know when you’re out, and it felt like an entirely new experience again! It was nice to randomly run into two other Ikemban’s. We bumped into Andrea on the beach and a few minutes later, Scott caught us strolling and grabbed a photo of us. I absolutely love this picture. It was such a cute surprise to have our first walk captured like this. It was so great to meet them randomly on the walk and I realized how taken for granted that experience is.

These 3 hours of freedom in level 4 lockdown has been so great! I really hope we can continue this way and keep sliding down the scale to 1.
